Lync 2013 Directory object not found 0000208D while preparing current forest

During Lync server 2013 installation, the following error received while "preparing current forest":

Error: Active Directory operation failed on "DC1.domain.local". You cannot retry this operation: "Directory object not found 0000208D: NameErr: DSID-0310020A, problem 2001 (NO_OBJECT), data 0, best match of: 'CN=Services,CN=Configuration,DC=sd-develop,DC=local' "

The error is beacuse the lync installation is not connected to the scheme master.

in order to resolve it:

1. verify which domain controller is the scheme master:

  1. Open Command Prompt as administrator.
  2. Type:

    regsvr32 schmmgmt.dll

This command will register Schmmgmt.dll on your computer. For more information about using regsvr32, see Related Topics.
  3. Click Start, click Run, type mmc /a, and then click OK.
  4. On the File menu, click Add/Remove Snap-in, and then click Add.
  5. Under Available Standalone Snap-ins, double-click Active Directory Schema, click Close, and then click OK.

2. Open power shell as admin, and run the following command:

enable-CSADForest -GroupDomainController DC1.domain.local -GroupDomain domain.local

3. refresh lync installation

Change Computername in My Computer Icon

If you want to change the text under "My Computer" Icon so it will be your computer name. do as described below.

All setting made by changing registry:
(open the registry by clicking start > run > regedit)

1. go to [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\CLSID\{20D04FE0-3AEA-1069-A2D8-08002B30309D}]
2.  You cannot edit this as the administrator, (only trustedinstaller is given write access) so you must take ownership of the parent registry key/s first, then assign your accounts rights to write to the key
3. Modify LocalizedString value.
4. Replace The Data on LocalizedString to %COMPUTERNAME%
5. Restart

After restart, the computer name will be shown under the computer icon.

Offline WSUS - clients won't get updates (export and import updates)

We have got two WSUS servers, one is connected to the internet while the other is inside a closed network (due to security). we are using import-export in order to sync the update from the online server to the offline server.
The problem is that after approving a test machine, setting the GPO and checking for new updates nothing happen, the client log reported: "0 updates detected" (full log in RED below),

Solution: after copying c:\wsus folder from the external server to internal server, exporting and importing (again) the database > clients can get updates.

How to perform export using WSUSutil.exe:

1 ) from external machine open command line and go to %drive%\Program Files\Update Services\Tools folder and type

wsusutil.exe export export_package.cab logfile.log

2) copy the c:\wsus folder to the internal server.

3) copy export_package.cab to the internal server (you don't need to copy the logfile.log)

4) on the internal server run:
wsusutil.exe import export_package.cab logfile.log

Requirements unforeseen consequences

Sometimes a modification results in unforeseen consequences because the various people involved did not fully understand each other’s requirements or intentions

As technical requested it

As projects interpreted it

As engineering designed it
As construction installed it

As works modified it
